Why is it important you attend the Best Practices Practices Conference? I can’t vouch for everyone, but I think my sessions will be great (and all the other speaker’s sessions as well). One of them is something I’ve been working on in concept for at least 6 months. This session is called Building A Rich Media Application in Silverlight. The second I saw the tools for webcam and video integration I thought how can we incorporate this into SharePoint? How cool would it be if you could record a netcast...
So I was playing around with NavigationNodeCollection, which is basically like SPNavigationNodeCollection just to make sure it worked without a hitch…Here is a little sample snippet of what should work: Unfortunately, you get a nice little javascript error that does not allow you to access the child nodes. I tried a foreach() loop that gets a NavigationNode for each parent then loops through the NavigationNode.Children that did not work either. I threw in two ExecuteQueryAsync statements thinking...
Hey guys so if you want to download my databinding demos and hello world demos here you go: http://cid-8e2654c5f01e6069... My slide deck from Virginia Beach alongside my 2007 demos are also posted up on my Sky Drive. The WCF Demos should work. You must remember though that if you are using a cross domain webservice that you need a policy file at the root of your IIS Directory. In the upcoming months as time permits I will post more demos. I’m sorry for the recent neglect...
So you are going to an event with 7,000 people that have similar interests to learn about a product that you have a vague idea about…I was excited prior to the event and nervous. I had a very bad week before the event. Every piece of technology that I brought with me to St. Louis broke. I had little sleep trying to get my code done and my technology to the point I started out with that Monday. Finally by Friday I was beat and hung out with my friends…On Saturday I went to Coders and everything after...
For anyone interested here are some Silverlight Project Samples (databinding, animation, hello world, plus wcf webservice): http://cid-8e2654c5f01e6069... Overall I had a pretty good time and it sounds like I projected pretty good. Some people said they could hear me in the hallway that's a good sign. I'll just keep on trying to project just as good each time. It was a pretty long weekend, but well worth meeting the people I did. I met so many and hung out...
I don't really have a break until after SharePoint Saturday D.C. Once the break occurs I am going to upgrade my VM with .Net 3.5 (finally get it to stick). Then I am going to write a WCF webservice that will pull data from profile services and search. Plus maybe some image library information for fun. I want to build a ton of controls using Silverlight as the front end and SharePoint as the back end. Check back here in about a month or so for some interesting experiments. I will probably post these...
I finally had an entire day of sitting at home where I did not have to pack. I put my slides and my demos on Sky Drive, including the Linq to XML information with the XML file databinding commented out and the webservice code (using WCF). Here is the slide link: http://cid-8e2654c5f01e6069... Here are the demos: http://cid-8e2654c5f01e6069... I am not...
So Jacksonville Office Geeks is going to draw it's last breathe on Thursday, February, 19th at 6 pm. I get to be the last person to present at the first SharePoint User Group to be dubbed Office Geeks. My topic is another Silverlight and SharePoint Presentation, however by that time I will be unveiling my search control using webservices or WCF that I will start work on Sunday. If you want to sign up to see my presentation here is the Click to Attend Link: https://www.clicktoattend.c...
I am looking around on the net for some classes for WPF, WCF, and WF plus any type of certification classes for the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Tests. I want to try and pass at least one certification exam for MOSS by the middle of the year. I would also like to learn more information and start writing my own work flows. I know barely anything about WPF, except that it looks really nice. I bet that I could make some really snazzy webparts implementing this technology. I'm not the most awesome...
